Valley, home of one of southern West Virginia’s newest vacation
retreats, The Bluestone-Stoney Ridge Lodge.
Nestled in the mountains and valleys located above Spanishburg,
West Virginia, the Bluestone-Stoney Ridge Lodge is the perfect
place for “getting away from it all.”
Imagine going to a place where your nearest neighbor is the
visiting deer and her fawns, the rabbits and squirrels on their daily
romps through the forest, all surrounded by nothing but beautiful nature
with its peace and tranquility.
The cabin lodge, situated on an
80-acre farm owned by one of the earliest settlers in the region, offers
guests many small hiking trails through the nearby woods as well as
throughout the rolling terrain. This
property also, at one time, was inhabited by several Indian tribes. Local lore indicates
that the road leading to the cabin was once a Stage Coach route.
The Bluestone-Stoney Ridge Lodge
is totally secluded and private, with a picnic shelter nearby for family
gatherings. The shelter is
fully equipped with a barbecue pit, picnic tables, and electricity.
The newly constructed cabin lodge
features a spacious great room with cathedral ceiling.
Beautiful furnishings and finely appointed rooms with handmade
quilts and needlecraft can be found throughout.
The kitchen is fully equipped with microwave, stove, refrigerator,
dishwasher, and coffeemaker. All
dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and linens are provided.
A large dining table with chairs provides an enjoyable setting for
those cozy evening dinners or early morning breakfasts.
The great room features a large bed
sofa and matching chairs. TV
with multiple channels, VCR, and a number of video movie selections are
available for the guests pleasure. Hardwood
floors and handmade crafted furniture and accessories adorn the room. An open stairway leads to the loft which overlooks the great
room. In the loft, there are
two separate bedrooms, each with its individual personality.
Both have full-size beds, featuring beautiful handmade quilts and
accessories, and a chest of drawers.
The large bathroom is located next to
the utility area complete with washer and dryer.
Laundry detergent and other supplies are provided.
Evenings are especially enjoyable at
the Bluestone-Stoney Ridge Lodge where guests may enjoy sitting on
the front porch, and listening to the quiet, soothing sounds of crickets
and owls.
It is a trip you will never forget, a
setting that is hard to find, and one you will be glad you experienced. The Bluestone-Stoney Ridge Lodge charms all its
